1 vodka, 2 vodka, 10 vodka - MORE?

I love vodka - favourite alcoholic drink anyway. People don't tend to care so much about alcohol use than they do other things. It's like cigarettes, it seems more socially acceptable, I'm not sure why - I thought maybe because there more common and legal? Anyway excessive drinking is not good for your health and people should be aware of this before they go out and have a good time. I'm not trying to be a buzz kill and I'm definately not saying you shouldn't drink, but just think and be aware that you need to look after yourself, you never know where it might lead.

I find myself in a difficult position because a member of my family drinks a bottle of wine every night and no matter how many people tell them that it's bad and they need to stop - they just seem to not care and carry on. I'm running out of ideas and things I can say to scare them and I wish the media would increase their adverts on excessive drinking and perhaps start labelling bottles of wines with the same fearful words they place of fag packets.

Aside from these personal factors, I do enjoy a new cold alcoholic beverage at the end of the week and I like to go out, have a few drinks and have loads of fun with my mates!! I just want people to understand that too much of a nice thing can sometimes end in disaster. Know Your Limits!

I am very sorry for your loss. I completely agree that drink driving is disgraceful and I think so much more should be done about it. Innocent people of all ages are being killed or seriously injured through carelessness and selfishness! I work in a bar and see people leaving to drive home over the limit all the time - and I would feel awful if they ended up killing someone because I feel I should report it and look after the society. I hope people continue to raise awareness and let's hope drink driving decreases!

Infidelity

Ok, so being cheated on is one of the worst things ever, whether it be a drunken kiss or a full blown affair - nobody wants to be on the receiving end of it. People say that if you truly love someone, you wouldn't cheat on them - but is this true? I know drugs and alcohol are rubbish excuses but it is fair to claim that that having a good old session on the booze or green stuff can seriously effect your ability to think straight immensely. For example, it seems to me from my experience that most men can't resist temptation and the typical scenario of him being blind drunk and a gorgeous girl trying it on with him. Is there many men out there that you could picture saying; "Sorry, I'm taken". I find it quite difficult to imagine. Take Ashley Cole for example, hes married to one of the prettiest women in ShowBiz and he STILL can't help himself. If Cheryl Cole is getting cheated on - then there is no hope for the rest of us! However, I do realise that I'm making assumptions and I strongly believe that there are some decent guys out there that would not have the heart to do something like that and some men out there that respect and love their girlfriends very much. Again I do realise that the roles can be reversed and that girls are just as capable of cheating. However, I am going to be biased because I'm a girl haha.

Infidelity is a tricky topic because we never no peoples circumstances in marries or long-term relationships and I suppose it's not our place to judge. However, when guys (or girls) in relationships go out and just kiss as many people as they can - just for fun or because they a lot of attention that their incapable of resisting, I think this is out of order and you should have much more respect for your partner and even more so, some pride and respect for yourself.

Swearing

I does not sound nice to hear people swearing all the time, especially the more extreme swear words. I work in a pub and there is nothing worse than when some loud customers come in and swear in every sentence, it makes me cringe a little bit, because it really is uncalled for.

Although, I can see why people do not like to hear people using so many unpleasant words, because it can be disrespectful and inappropriate. Mannnnn, it does feel good to swear sometimes and just get that anger off your chest. Personally, I think it feels so much better to swear, than just say something like 'damn' or 'oh dear'.

It is not something I regard as being particularly bad, it isn't causing any physical and mental harm to people, it just comes down to manners, and there are more offensive things than swearing.

Illegal downloading is very common and very easy to do. I must admit, it is so much cheaper to do and probably less hassell than doing it properly. However, although you claim that if somebody does download a song illegally and the company only looses 70p, it does seem like nothing, but if every single person started doing it, it would soon all add up. Although, I can see why people do it and I am not completely innocent myself, it is wrong and maybe more should be done about it.

Racism

Well, Racism is a topic that goes back centuries and has unfortunatley always been in our society. The belief that some races aremore superior than others, well it is disgraceful. When we look at our community, we should look at the behaviour of individual and only then we should decide who is worthy and unworthy of respect. There are people who conform and others who do not. Historical figures of the past, for example Hitler, fuelled Racism and much of the 2nd World War was based upon it. The extremes that were taken just to achieve racial purity - the gas chambers and the concentraton camps - what people went through, simply because one man believed thought Jews believed the wrongs things and looked different. It makes me feel sick to even write about it to be honest!

Fortunately, in the surroundings in which I live, I experience minimal Racism, however, it does go on all over the world and people are suffering in silence. It seems to be a topic that is brushed under the carpet and people assume it will sort itself out. As a society, we should all be trying to tackle these issues together, but like most things I fail to see how Racism will disappear any time soon. Tatty Tattoos

Ok, I have labelled Tattoos as tatty, and to be honest they are! But its what the typical British public love, typical British society, outrageous as always! Tattoos are so popular and many people get a kick out of the pain it inflicts. The pain alone is enough to put me off, I'm the biggest wimp alive and the thought of a needle repeatedly entering my skin terrifies me.

Even though I have been known to regard tattoos as negative aspect in the past - But I must admit that if the whole tattoo process was pain free - I probably would, just maybe be a little bit tempted haha! So, theres me being my usual hypocritical self. But like most things in life tattoos are both good for some people and bad for others.

Admittedly, some tattoos can be very extreme and do really look attractive, as you can see from my picture, but simple ones can be very pretty and nice to look at. But like I said before, its down to personal choice and in all honesty it is not something I would label as 'Being Bad'

Drugs! There are just so many, and they all have so many different names! Being completely honest, I have very limited knowledge regarding drugs. I know the basics I suppose, but the effects of drugs is something I can talk about.


Some drugs are regarded as worse than others, even by the authourities, I've often heard the terms Class A, Class B or Class C. Well, these terms certainly were not used in the past. I think it is fair to say that it is only in more recent years that drugs have been strongly illegalised and taken seriously. In the past, drugs were probably regarded in the same league as a cigarette and nobody really labelled it as a negative concept. In the lecture, we saw the experiments people had with drugs in the past and how people just seemed so laid back about it all. However, in todays society, the world is discovering more about health and uncovering the effects drugs can have on a human body. Furthermore, people have realised that people lack control and become disorienated whilst under the influence of drugs.

The majority of people that I know smoke cannabis on a regular basic, they always say to me why take drugs as a release, to heighten their fun and because they can. I get the feeling that there is less emphasis on cannabis as a drug than others. Even though it is a class B drug, it is still treated like a Class C. Take for example, I work in a hotel and we found a man smoking Cannabis in his room, the manager called the police out to try and resolve the situation. The policeman's reaction was: "I don't mind him smoking a bit of weed, everyones at it". Personally, I think that remark is a disgrace - and shows how we can have no faith in the police system.

Ok, so I'm slating drugs, I think it's clear that I'm against them and think the law needs to get involved more often. I have never tried any drugs whatsoever, but it is a topic that is very close to home for me. Both of my older brothers have been regular drug users for over 10 years and one of them even ended up in jail for carrying £1,000 worth of cocaine. Both brothers, started off smoking just a little cannabis at the weekend, then things just escalated and they started taking bigger and 'better' drugs. In doing this, both of them have completely ruined their lives, neither brother has a job and between them they have 7 children (that they and I know of). Im not saying that this applies to everyone, but it shows how bad things can get.

A lie that draws a smile? Or the truth that draws a tear?

Lying! Well, it is fair to say that lying completely surrounds everyone and everything. EVERYBODY LIES - FACT - whether it is a white lie, innocent lie, protective lie or spiteful lie. In my personal opinion I do think that it both right and wrong to lie, obviously it depends on what lie is being told, but lies can be very beneficical and it would not be untrue to say that they can potentially save peoples lives. For example, during the second world war, those hiding jewish citizens were lying to the Nazi's to protect and save innocent lives, if somebody would have uncovered the truth, there would have been more uneccessary death. I believe in these situtations humans are very fortunate beings for having the ability to lie to protect and preserve life.

Moreover, children are brought up to believe in fictional characters such as Father Christmas, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. These deceptions bring a smile to youngsters faces and joy into their lives. Therefore, the majority of people are guilty of a sin, that can bring many positive ascepts to the world. These lies are generally harmless and are embraced by many people.

On the other hand, lying can be very destructive and damaging! Many people have caused a lot of pain and upset by lying for their own benefit. A typical example of this would be politicians, these are people who lie to gain support and votes and have no intention of following through on the promises they have made for the population.

I don't think anybody is surprised when we hear stories in the papers about footballers cheating on their wives. It is extremely bad that lying seems to have lost all its limitations and the fact that these role models are setting such a bad example, unfortunately it can have such a devastating affect. It does not surprise me that the young members of society are acting in such a rebellious and care-free way!

It is impossible to claim that you are someone who has never lied, whether your purposes have been good or bad. Lying can not be avoided and is not always a negative and therefore should not always be regarded as a sin but an aspect of world that should be approached with delicacy.

Stalking

So, are different kinds of observation allowable? Everybody has the freedom to leave their home, visit public places and witness the world around them. It could be said that aslong as no laws are being broken, for example; breaking into premises, are you really doing anything wrong in the eyes of the law? Unless someone is continually harrasing you, will the police be interested?

Ok, so some stalkers do take it to extremes and completely invade their victims personal space, as we saw on the video, it is unacceptable to hack into private emails. These stalkers are clearly overcome with complete obssession and their target should free in danger and take legal action!

Should we consider the possibilty that people who participate in social networking such as myspace and facebook, ask for trouble? These people willingly upload a lot of their personal information on the internet for the entire world to seek out. Anybody in this situation can become very vunerable to stalking. Society should remember that stalkers need to be avoided and definately not encouraged!!

Bullying: Everybody has experienced some form of bullying in their life, whether it is mental or physical - both can be equally damaging. Some bullying can be worse than others but there is no doubt that it happens everywhere. People encounter bullying in a home, work or social environments, and many types of bullying are over looked. Many people are unaware of how sensitive and vunerable people are in certain situations. Bullying is often brushed under the carpet because people are to selfish or scared to involve themselves. I ask you, if you saw an elderly lady being mugged by a group of 'chavs' and you noticed the youngsters had a weapon, would you get involved?

Personally, I believe bullies to be cowards and they pick on easy targets in order to give themselves a sense of authority - these people have no idea how much damage they are causing and 9 times out of ten, bulllies are people who live a very illydic lifestyle and have limitied experience of life.

Although, there are many organisations deisgned to conquer bullying and offer support - very few of these are adviced within schools and workplaces. It is a real shame that bullying happenns and that sometimes it can be too late to resolve. Many cases of bullying have devastatingly ended in suicide.
